چکیده

Aims: Since pattern classification of fetal heart rate (FHR) was subjective and enlarged interobserver difference, objective FHR analysis was achieved with computerized FHR diagnosis. Methods: The computer algorithm was composed of an experts’ knowledge system, including FHR analysis and FHR score calculation, and also of an objective artificial neural network system with software. In addition, a FHR frequency spectrum was studied to detect ominous sinusoidal FHR and the loss of baseline variability related to fetal brain damage. The algorithms were installed in a central-computerized automatic FHR monitoring system, which gave the diagnosis rapidly and directly to the attending doctor. Results: Clinically perinatal mortality decreased significantly and no cerebral palsy developed after introduction of the centralized system. Conclusion: The automatic multichannel FHR monitoring system improved the monitoring, increased the objectivity of FHR diagnosis and promoted clinical results. OPEN ACCESS Algorithms 2015, 8 396

Central Computerized Automatic Fetal Heart Rate Diagnosis with a Rapid and Direct Alarm System

Aims: This study aimed to simplify fetal monitoring, reduce inter-observer differences and false-positive diagnosis and monitor a large number of births simultaneously. Methods: Fetal signals from several births were transmitted to a central computer via local area network (LAN) or telemetry and analyzed using a multichannel timesharing system. Fetal heart rate (FHR) abnormalities were detected...

Computerized diagnosis of fetal heart rate

Fetal monitoring performed by the cardiotocography (CTG) was effective by continuous visual monitoring of obstetric staffs, which was subjective and troublesome, developing inter-observer differences. Maeda created objective FHR score which was objective and possible to be computerized for further improvement. Maeda developed the first mini computerized automated FHR analysis with objective pat...

Investigating pH based evaluation of fetal heart rate (FHR) recordings

Cardiotocography (CTG) is a standard tool for the assessment of fetal well-being during pregnancy and delivery. However, its interpretation is associated with high inter- and intra-observer variability. Since its introduction there have been numerous attempts to develop computerized systems assisting the evaluation of the CTG recording. Nevertheless these systems are still hardly used in a deli...

Acceleration and Deceleration Detection and Baseline Estimation

CTG monitoring of the fetal heart rate and uterine contractions during pregnancy and delivery provide information on the physiological condition of the fetus needed to identify hypoxia. Interpretation, however, requires experience and important patterns might be missed or misinterpreted due to stress, exhaustion or distraction. Interpretation has also been reported subjective with poor reproduc...

A PCA/ICA based Fetal ECG Extraction from Mother Abdominal Recordings by Means of a Novel Data-driven Approach to Fetal ECG Quality Assessment

Background: Fetal electrocardiography is a developing field that provides valuable information on the fetal health during pregnancy. By early diagnosis and treatment of fetal heart problems, more survival chance is given to the infant. Objective: Here, we extract fetal ECG from maternal abdominal recordings and detect R-peaks in order to recognize fetal heart rate. On the next step, we find a be...
